Creatio Ex Nihilo

Quote:
Latin: 'Creation out of nothing'

The magnificent, omnipotent (all powerful), omniscient (all knowing), and omnipresent (present everywhere) Godhead called into existence the space time universe. When God created, he created space and time; there was no time before creation. God is eternal; he exists outside time and space, he is the “ high and lofty One who inhabits eternity”. He stands outside of time. Time was created along with the universe and began at a finite point “Creatio Ex Nihilo” out of nothingness with the big-bang. To the casual observer the moment of creation would appear as a single point of energy or singularity. This singularity would be the result of having the entire cosmos compressed in the words of God, hence the big-bang model of the universe. When God spoke the words they exploded into all of the known and unknown elements, the fires of the suns, the darkness, and the cold. Neither darkness nor light existed before creation Ex Nihilo. God made the cosmos by mere will of having it to exist.

Creation occurred “ex deo”, or out of the very substance of God. Everything that exists exists because of God created it with his very own substance and nature. God created from nothingness. We are all in a way His children because of this creative act, and perhaps we even had preexistence within the depths of God.

Before creation, God was all that there was, there was no darkness, void or non-existent space. God made the universes by mere will of having them appear, without any use of pre-existent matter.

Man does not know how vast creation is. There are realms and dimensions of existence without number and realities that cannot be measured.

Time is something that is exclusive to this realm in which you live. Eternity is not bound by time. I live in this eternity along with other brothers in man’s defense. God lives in eternity which has no beginning and no end. Before time, there was only eternity, and for God eternity is a never-ending present. God can see what is happening anywhere in the Universe at any given time, past, present or future. God sees it in its entire entirety at once!

Throughout history, there have been times when Divinity has entered this plane of reality. It could hardly escape notice that mans understanding of God's timelessness does not go well with his belief that God once assumed finite, human form in Christ Jesus. Theologians refer to this as the “ Absolute Paradox”; the presence of the Divinity (God) in time, how God could enter time without ceasing to be the Eternal. How could the creator become the creature and subject Himself to time? Fortunately he tells us how, Christ Jesus, who subsisting in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but emptied [κενόω] Himself, taking the form of a slave, having become in the likeness of men and being found in fashion as a man. The KJV says that he made himself of no reputation [κενόω]. The word used here is ken-o'-o and it means to empty. Christ Jesus – God emptied Himself of the prerogatives of Divinity, in Jesus he was unable to be everywhere at once and subjected himself to the Absolute Paradox!

The Definition of Chalcedon

Following, then, the holy fathers, we unite in teaching all men to confess the one and only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. This selfsame one is perfect both in deity and in humanness; this selfsame one is also actually God and actually man, with a rational soul and a body. He is of the same reality as God as far as his deity is concerned and of the same reality as we ourselves as far as his humanness is concerned; thus like us in all respects, sin only excepted. Before time began he was begotten of the Father, in respect of his deity, and now in these "last days," for us and behalf of our salvation, this selfsame one was born of Mary the virgin, who is God-bearer in respect of his humanness.

We also teach that we apprehend this one and only Christ-Son, Lord, only-begotten -- in two natures; and we do this without confusing the two natures, without transmuting one nature into the other, without dividing them into two separate categories, without con- trasting them according to area or function. The distinctiveness of each nature is not nullified by the union. Instead, the "properties" of each nature are conserved and both natures concur in one "person" and in one reality. They are not divided or cut into two persons, but are together the one and only and only-begotten Word of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. Thus have the prophets of old testified; thus the Lord Jesus Christ himself taught us; thus the Symbol of Fathers has handed down to us.
